The subtle art of secondary benefits

The subtle art of secondary benefits

Illness, or what did the body say? Traditional Chinese medicine, energy treatments, therapeutic hypnosisMeditation and complementary medicine, as well as research into neuroscience and cell biology, have demonstrated that the body is an extremely complex system, about which little is known, but what is known is that introspection into its secondary benefits helps to free oneself from many ills.

However, what has been discovered is essential to the proper functioning of our body, which is nothing other than an assembly of gears or cogs that create, regenerate and renew themselves at regular frequency.

Whether benign illnesses, emotional disorders or so-called serious or incurable diseases, they herald a change, a need to change our beliefs, our environment, both personal and public, social, and get back to what our being needs to find again. A form of Self-alignment, if you like.

I say “incurable” because I believe that everything can be cured, sometimes not by the physical body, but that our healing path is not necessarily the one our mind hopes for, and that incurable is as much a belief as curable, within the limits of our current knowledge and skills.

If, from this observation, we can consider that our subtle bodies such as the mental and emotional bodies are part of the management of our subconscious, then it is possible to return to a state of equilibrium. Of course this will be possible for some, but not necessarily for others, because as I said above, physical healing is only one aspect, but “leaving in peace” could be another for some people. Return to joy, to self-love, to an inner peace of Being.

Therefore, if the premise is that our emotions create illness, and that our unconscious mind in disagreement with our conscious mind induces fear, anxiety and blockages, rather like river overflows or avalanches, it would be potentially possible for us to heal and return to a point of balance.

But how? Here are some of the questions I raise with patients:

  • What is the secondary benefit of your illness or situation?
  • What would you lose by no longer having this disease or situation in your life?
  • Are you ready to lose this benefit in favor of another, more positive one for you?
  • Are you ready to see your life change completely in a bid to regain your health?

Indeed, as each of us is a creator, we often have a great deal of work to do on ourselves, on what we accept, what we tolerate, in order to see real change in our lives. And we’re the only ones who can do it.

A therapist or a doctor won’t be able to cure someone whose belief is that it’s incurable, and no treatment will work in the long term without changes, because it’s like putting a patch on a problem, or a lid on the emotional pressure cooker… there comes a time when it will blow up again if we don’t reduce the fire.

It is essential to note that no energetic treatment, hypnosis, E.F.T. or any complementary or alternative medicine can replace medical advice and follow-up, and that in the event of any doubt, medical advice is obligatory.

I don’t diagnose, because I’m not a doctor, and only doctors can diagnose and treat.

If you are taking medication, it is IMPERATIVE to consult your doctor before making any changes to your treatment, and it is essential not to make any changes without consulting your doctor.

For this, of course, it’s de rigueur to see that a therapist is not a magician, and that a patient is his or her own healer. The therapist takes the patient where he or she doesn’t necessarily dare to go, with the greatest benevolence, in order to guide him or her towards his or her own light and explore the secondary benefits to be dissolved.

Both guilt and fear are emotions, and they have an impact that’s worth observing without judgment. So a patient currently has a physical or emotional health situation, and he wishes to change, and if he changes, he advances, thanks to his link, his change of beliefs, freeing himself from his secondary benefits, and this perspective that he discovers a whole new universe within himself, and new capacities.

To dare to live is to dare to seek joy, courage and life, and to let go of secondary benefits for positive ones, thus optimizing our joy and our environment through deep self-love.

Self-discovery doesn’t have to be difficult, painful or unpleasant. This is often a misperception, because just because an emotion rises up doesn’t mean it’s going to stay there.

Self-discovery, freeing ourselves from secondary benefits, is like opening doors to a new field of exploration, just as when we were born we left the darkness of our mother’s womb to explore the world. We then discovered the school, perhaps traveled, met people, and went on to meet the world around us, and now it’s time to meet ourselves.
