Phase One has just announced Capture One Pro 12. Their yearly major update comes in line with their previous announcement to support Fujifilm gear in the best way possible, and here’s how what you need to know about this new release.
What’s new in Capture One Pro 12 ?
Well, for those of you who are on previous versions of this incredible software that’s Capture One Pro, you already know about the RAW conversion which is outstanding, the colour grading which is utmost excellent, and you are also aware about recipes and how it can improve your workflow. So why… why upgrade to Capture One Pro 12 ?
Well here we go for the major features which will blow your mind
- New Luminosity mask integration
- Improved radial & linear gradient with feathering & rotating
- Easy copying of adjustments
- Updated interface & icons
- Improved masking & feathering of masks
- Opening up to Third party Extensions
- Fujifilm Film simulations
With all this, considering it’s just the beginning, we can expect great things to come out of these new decisions of Phase One. Building the leader in software editing and culling, from a place of experience, and excellence, integration with Photoshop & Affinity has been improved too, for those who have not made the switch… I would recommend you hit the trial button and give it a deep go !
What’s in for you Fujifilm users ?
You’re in for your rollercoaster ride fujifilm users. Now, with the previous integration of the fujifilm X-T3 and GFX, this comes with more integration. Improved tethering, and your film simulations. You can now go ahead and classic Chrome or whatever other film simulation you can think about and kick it in your images.
The various points which were making fujifilm users weary about switching to Capture One Pro have just left the room, add this to Profoto Support to Fujifilm through the Air system, and you now have a complete workflow to back up the level of quality you want to address.
How can this impact your workflow ?
We started with hot folders, and no Fujifilm integration with most systems. No profoto TTL, no Capture One recognition of the cameras, same with photoshop, it was tricky, seriously tricky for professional use.
Now we’re really talking. You can shoot Tethered with your fujifilm cameras, or shoot in a standard way and then create Capture One Pro sessions or catalogues. Once you’re done importing, you switch to your Fujifilm simulations, grade a bit more, work on your luminosity masks, heal & cleanup, go to photoshop, do a round trip to Capture one, and export through recipes.
Soon, with the integration of new third party extensions, the wildest dreams will come true. We can most certainly imagine integrations to some galleries, proofing tools, compression software such as JPG Mini, and much more to help the high-end pro in his business.
Capture One Pro 12 has just come out with amazing features such as luminosity masks, fujifilm simulations, improved tethering and radial/linear mask rotation, feathering and masking, and opens up to third party extensions. Don’t miss out on this incredible update.
I have been waiting for these updates and was imagining they would come, but they are really pushing the boundaries. I can’t say enough about this new version of the software and how it’s going to affect my work, my workflow and make me save time and energy to provide my client with his final files.
